I started writing after watching an episode of Deadliest Catch. Something about that night's show sparked a story idea in my head. A couple of days later, the idea was still bounding around inside my brain. I told my husband about it , who said for me to 'write it down' so it would go away.
Lucky for me it didn't go away, but instead became my first novel. From there the ideas just flowed.
I've always been creative and spent time both playing music in high school band and honing my skills in art class. I love color and am not afraid to take a chance with mixing media to see the final result. (Just ask my husband about the hot pink walls he lived with for over a year...lol.)
I'm also lucky enough to have a wonderfully supportive husband, who totally gets me and my quirky moods, mostly because he's a musician and understands the need to create.
My children are probably my biggest supporters. My son tells everyone that his mother writes 'romance'. Though of course he says romance while rolling his eyes. My daughter was an infant when I started writing, so to her it's just part of life in this household. It wasn't until just recently she finally realized that not all mommies had 'edit's to do.
I'm not sure how long I'll continue to write. My goal is to be able to be able to make enough money writing that I can stay home with my kiddos. I'm not to that point yet, but with every rejection I receive along with every acceptance, I learn and become a better writer. Maybe someday. Until then I'll keep doing what I'm doing because I love to write.
